Description of Responsibilities

The Senior System and Network Engineer role is to manage in-house computer software systems, servers, storage devices and network connections to ensure high availability and security of the supported business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Design, install, monitor and maintain switching and routing infrastructure, firewalls and various other infrastructure devices

• Configure VPN, QOS and various other network services

• Provide management of cloud environment

• Act as part of the Splunk review and configuration team

• Network operations support including move, add, changes, troubleshooting and infrastructure deployments

• Assist with infrastructure, server and workstation patching

• Perform network maintenance including system updates, configuration changes and security baseline monitoring

• Operate network management tools such as packet captures, syslog, authentication, monitoring and alerting

• Responsible for telecom management, including IP and digital sets, voicemail, private circuits and IPC\Avaya

• Telecom moves, adds and changes, and troubleshoot voice/circuit related issues

• Change control process including detailed documentation of procedures for all installations, upgrades, and emergency resolutions

• Management of Microsoft and Linux infrastructure

• Provide partial coverage for end-user helpdesk and utilize ticket system to resolve issues and requests

• Provide hands-on support for remote installations

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar technical degree

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as network engineer with at least 6 years total experience in infrastructure

• Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNP or Microsoft MCSE are preferred

• Understanding of switches, routers, firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP, QoS

• Experience with Amazon Web Services preferred

• Knowledge of network routing, switching, operating systems, technologies, and protocols including but not limited to EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, HTTP, SNMP, VLANS, VRF, ACLs, firewalls, cabling and fiber standards

• Proficient knowledge in telephony infrastructure and design, including PBX, VoIP and SIP trunking, ISDN trunking, SBC, Media Gateway

• Strong technical writing skills to provide and maintain detailed configuration documentation including Visio documentation

• Experience with Microsoft infrastructure including Active Directory

• Palo Alto firewall knowledge and Global Protect a plus

• Powershell or another scripting language preferred

• Knowledge of DevOps preferred

• Knowledge of Varonis preferred

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills

• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements

• Team player with ability to work independently

• Ability to be a self-starter and possess good time management skills

• Ability to troubleshoot and investigate issues and problems independently

• Must be available for after hours and on-call coverage

• Buy-side experience preferred
